Welcome to my Good Food Guide. For many years I have been collecting the names and addresses of restaurants, bars and pubs worldwide which I have enjoyed, and I feel now that I should share this with others. A few of the places listed here I have not not been to, but look promising. As a rule I make no comments about prices, types of food etc. My only criterion for inclusion is whether I (and those I was with) found the experience enjoyable - some places are cheap, some costly, the food and drink were always good. Maybe 5% of the places I visit make it onto this list. This site is for adventurous people who will do some extra research to find the current status of a restaurant, contacts, schedule etc. Think of it as my Good Food blog, infrequently updated. If that's not your thing, there's always the Arches. |

Bar Giralda | Calle Mateos Gago, 1 | None | Seville | Excellent tapas bar, just round the corner from the cathedral, on the Giralda side. Gets really crowded, and you can get jostled around, both by clients and waiters. True Andalusian confusion, well worth it. |
Escriba | NA | NA | Barcelona | At the Liceu stop on Rambla de las flors. Top cafe, forget all you knew about croissants.... |
George and Dragon | King Street, Fordwich, Canterbury, CT2 0BX, Canterbury | 01227 710661 | Canterbury | Very nice pub, not easy to find |
Lo Nuestro | c/Betis, 31 (Triana) | None | Seville | Flamenco bar, it was past 2am when I left and things were just getting started. We thought the band was packing up but they were just moving to a larger section of the bar, because too many people were dancing by then. |
Pavilhão Chinês | R. S. Pedro de Alcantara | NA | Lisboa | Extraordinary spot, like no other I've ever been to |

República | Av. República, 40, Faro | 289 807312 | Faro | Hole in the wall, excentric ownership, excellent food. Xarem, perna de borrego, arroz de peixe made to order. |
Robles Placentines | Calle Placentines, 2 | None | Seville | Another great tapas bar, really good fried whitebait, criminally undersized. |
The Church House Inn | Rattery A38 Exeter-Plymouth | Plymouth | Fantastic old pub, great atmosphere, nice food | |
The Crown Inn | Just off the M4 exit to Bath, Bath | +44 01225891166 | Bath | Good food on the road down to Devon without having to go into town |
The Lamb Inn | Hindon, Salisbury | 01747 820 573 | Salisbury | Superb country pub, great food, apparently also a hotel. |
Don't forget that restaurants change hands, close or vary in quality over time. This site makes no guarantees whatsoever, except that I, or someone whose opinion I respect, ate well at least once at the places listed here. In some cases, where good food is hard to find, they may be the only places where we ate well.
